SMWAVE.DRV Version 1.01
Release Notes
November 14, 1994

This release contains the following modifications relative to Version 1.0:

1- The driver closes the file SOUNDMAN.INI after getting its information.
This was a bug where the file was kept open through a Windows session,
   preventing operations on it.

2- The WAVEOUT driver implements the WODM_GETVOLUME and WODM_SETVOLUME
messages. The implementation is very simple as it accesses the mixer
chip's WAVE channels directly (there is no attempt at synchronization
with SMWMIXER.DRV). The reason for this implementation is that it
fixes a problem with some games using QTW 1.0 (QuickTime for Windows)
such as "Wrath of the Gods" where the voice of the characters could
   not be heard.

3- The version number has changed to "1.01" as reflected in the About Box.

These changes were limited to a few lines of isolated code and do not
impact the main functionality of the WAVE driver. However, a user
may notice that if you change the volume level in a QTW game, it changes
the level of the WAVE mixer channel, but it isn't reflected in the MCS
Animotion WAVE mixer level.

Installation
------------

On an already installed SMWAVE.DRV:
- copy the file SMWAVE.DRV over the file contained in the SOUNDMAN
directory. The default is C:\SOUNDMAN. It may be necessary to
do this copy from the DOS prompt.
