ReadMe File for the Spacewalker Mainboard Patch Program (Windows 95)
Version 1.8

Feb 13, 1998

NOTE: THE USB PATCH IS NOT A DRIVER. AFTER INSTALLING THE USB PATCH, IT
NOT MAKE THE USB PORT FUNCTIONAL. IT ONLY ALLOWS WINDOWS 95 TO
CORRECTLY RECOGNIZE THE USB PORT. IN ORDER TO USE THE USB PORT
YOU MUST INSTALL THE USB SUPPLEMENT, WHICH IS INCLUDED IN
      WINDOWS 95 OSR2 2.1 OR ABOVE.

I. Introduction
================
In Windows 95 version OSR2.0 or earlier, some devices from the Intel 430TX,
440LX or AMD-640 chipsets mainboards cannot be correctly recognised and the
drivers for these devices were not included too. So after installation of
the Windows 95, there will always be a QUESTION MARK next to these
unrecognised devices. Indicating that the the driver is not installed or
the device is not working properly. Unrecognised devices are:

Intel 430TX, 440LX chipsets:
   82439TX Host to PCI Bridge
   82443LX Host to PCI Bridge
   82371AB Power Management Controller
   82371AB PCI to ISA Bridge
(Optional) 82371AB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller

VIA / AMD-640 chipsets:
VIA VPX97 Host to PCI Bridge
VIA VP3 Host to PCI Bridge
   PCI to ISA Bridge
   AMD-645 Host to PCI Bridge
   Power Management Controller
(Optional) PCI to USB Universal Host Controller

The problem is that Windows 95 OSR2.0 or earlier version, were released
before the 430TX, 440LX and 640 chipsets hit the market. So these earlier
version of the OS, do not have the correct drivers information build-in.

In order to resolve this problem, we are offering this patch program, to
allow Windows 95 to correctly detect the devices. After installing this
program, you will find that both of these devices show they are working
properly.

*** Note: Windows 98 does not need to patch.

Windows 95 complete its bootup procedure, check the Device
Manager again on System of Control Panel. You will see that
all devices show it is working normally.
